How To Advertise Your Facebook Group On Facebook

I know. I feel your pain. What has happened to your Facebook Page? How could Zuckerberg kill your organic reach this way?

What are you going to do now?

If like me, you've noticed that you get the most notifications from groups now (I don't know what my friends are up to these days), you might want to jump on the bandwagon and get a group going for your business.

Problem is - how are you going to get people to join your group? There's only so much begging you can do. It is going to take a long time to get this thing going.

What about doing an advert? That must be the best way to get people to join your group, right?

If you've tried this already - you'll know that Facebook needs an external URL (not a Facebook URL) to direct traffic to. So strictly speaking - you can't advertise a Facebook Group with a Facebook ad.

This is a bummer.

There have been hacks to get around this that have worked in the past, and that was to use a URL shortener to get the Facebook URL into your advert.

Ha! You beat Facebook!

But, wait! It doesn't work very well anymore - and that's the problem with Facebook - it's forever changing. Here's the reason why - URL shorteners aren't a good solution anymore since Facebook tried to stop the whole 'fake news' debacle.

So you might manage to get this strategy working, but - you might get less reach.

However, I discovered a nifty way to advertise a group by sending traffic from the advert to the Messenger Bot.

No URL shorteners used and the user gets to find out more about the group on Messenger before they ask to join. PLUS - you get them subscribed to your bot, so you can market to them too!

This is a thing of pure beauty!

Here's a quick video tutorial:
