Why Are My Facebook Ads Not Working?

I get this a lot. Facebook doesn't work. 

 

You see Facebook ads do work - you just haven't been doing them properly, or the person you hired at that bargain-basement price didn't really know what they were doing.

 

And here's the BIG problem. Facebook makes it very easy for anyone to have a crack at advertising - which is great, but also sucks for all those people burning through money pressing that 'Boost' button.

 

Come on, you know who you are. I even hear that some people have 'Boosted' their post for $20 and made $500,000 - you've heard those stories, right? Well that is mostly Facebook urban myth and most people will see results equalling zero.

 

I like to think of the 'Boost' button as a tip jar button for Facebook.

 

So, how do you see results on Facebook? Where do I start?

 

I love auditing potential client's ad accounts. I love to see where they have been going wrong, or where they have been doing really well. But even if you are doing well, unless you are an ad expert who deals with lots of different campaigns day-in-day-out - how would you know if you are doing well?

 

What CPC should your ad be achieving? What CTR is good for your industry? Is your audience too small or too big? What placement should be using? Have you tested, then tested some more?

 

It still shocks me the amount of serious businesses that will gamble with their social media advertising. Just last week I audited an account that had lost about £35k by using incorrect practices and not having a Pixel set-up (don't get me started on the Pixel!). They still think guessing is better than getting an expert in to really make their advertising budget go further and reach great Return On Ad Spend (ROAS).

 

Facebook does definitely work, it just needs an expert with all the right strategies and experience to drive it for you.
